09/26/03: More Information about Chrysler 300C

Chrysler Redefines the Classic American Automobile with Worldwide Reveal of 300C Concept
Auburn Hills, Mich., Sep 25, 2003 -Chrysler has redefined the classic American automobile with the Chrysler 300C concept. With an entirely new shape based on the company’s all-new rear-wheel-drive architecture, this striking concept sedan continues the Chrysler brand’s proud ‘letter series’ tradition—but in a thoroughly modern way.
It’s been nearly five decades since Chrysler first introduced its fabled ‘letter series’ cars. The brand’s renowned line of Chrysler 300s started with the C-300 in 1955, and continued for 11 years. Few American automakers have since matched their reputation for blending performance, prestige and sheer presence.
Chrysler 300C concept features classic proportions—a long hood, short deck and a dramatic profile complete with 20-inch wheels. Paying tribute to some of the first letter series cars, a production version similar to the Chrysler 300C concept will go on sale in 2004, further solidifying the Chrysler brand’s premium position in the market.
“Chrysler 300C signals a dramatic new design direction for Chrysler,” said Dieter Zetsche, President and CEO of the Chrysler Group. “With its new shape and noble proportions, the Chrysler 300C redefines the classic American automobile, while moving the brand solidly into the premium segment of the market.”
While Chrysler 300C is a concept vehicle, it provides a strong hint at the first sedan from Chrysler Group’s much-anticipated next generation of rear-wheel-drive vehicles to debut in 2004.
“With recent introductions including the innovative Chrysler Pacifica sports tourer and the head-turning Crossfire sports coupe—and now the all-new 300C—the Chrysler brand has one of the most impressive product portfolios in the industry,” added Zetsche. “These vehicles will enable us to move the Chrysler brand to a premium position within the U.S. market.”
Transferring all this power to the pavement is Chrysler’s new rear-wheel-drive architecture. Rear drive offers improved handling with front wheels steering and rear wheels driving. With tremendous advances in tire technology, traction control and electronic stability control, Chrysler brings back the rear-wheel drive passenger sedan.
The Chrysler 300C concept also marks the return of the HEMI engine to the Chrysler brand after more than 40 years. The legendary engine design that powered Chrysler’s ‘letter series’ cars in the 1950s has been re-engineered and reborn as a modern, high-performance, fuel efficient and durable powerplant known as the all-new 5.7-liter HEMI V-8.
“Combining confident performance with stunning design, the Chrysler 300C concept defines the next generation of our automobiles,” said Zetsche. “With rear-wheel drive and HEMI inside, Chrysler 300C delivers power and performance in an elegant package.”

09/22/03: New Jeep Trail Rated™ Requirements
Jeep® Creates the New Jeep Trail Rated™ Requirements to Communicate Legendary 4x4 Capability
- Trail Rated Measures Stringent Jeep 4x4 Capability Requirements
- Jeep "Trail Rated" Badge Appears on Vehicles and in New Advertising
Auburn Hills, Mich., Sep 18, 2003 -The Jeep® brand today announced Jeep Trail Rated™, a new way to communicate to consumers the extensive level of off-road requirements that all Jeep 4x4 vehicles must meet. The new 2004 Jeep 4x4 vehicles - Grand Cherokee, Liberty and Wrangler -- with Trail Rated badges start arriving in dealerships next week.
“Jeep Trail Rated is an industry-leading methodology to objectively measure and predict off-road performance for all Jeep vehicles,” said Jeff Bell, Vice President Jeep, DaimlerChrysler Corporation. “We created Jeep Trail Rated to communicate the legendary Jeep capability that is designed into every Jeep 4x4.”
Jeep Trail Rated is supported by the Nevada Automotive Test Center (NATC), which has 45 years of off-road vehicle testing experience, including the creation of standards for the U.S. military.
The new Jeep "Trail Rated" badge indicates that every Jeep 4x4 has been designed to perform in a variety of challenging off-road conditions identified by five key consumer-oriented performance categories, including Traction, Ground Clearance, Maneuverability, Articulation and Water Fording.
“Through a combination of natural and controlled field tests, as well as computer-simulated environments, Jeep Trail Rated provides a repeatable and consistent measurement of off-road performance for all Jeep vehicles,” said Bell. “As the Jeep brand expands, Trail Rated will help us ensure that our legendary 4x4 capability remains a cornerstone of the Jeep brand.”
Six new print ads and four new television spots will communicate the stringent requirements that Jeep vehicles must meet in order to earn the Jeep "Trail Rated" badge. The new spots will highlight one of the five consumer-oriented categories that make up Jeep Trail Rated. Both print and broadcast ads break in mid-October. Consumers can also see details of Jeep Trail Rated on Jeep.com. Additionally, the Jeep brand will debut Jeep Trail Rated creative in The New Yorker magazine’s charter edition of the Tablet PC.
Describing the overall direction of the ads, Bell added, “Each print ad will consistently show the performance standards with a capability graphic that highlights one of the five off-road conditions being demonstrated, along with the Trail Rated 4x4 badge. The television spots will also feature the performance categories and the Trail Rated 4x4 badge.”
“The Jeep brand continues to deliver on the promise to provide rugged, versatile vehicles with authentic 4x4 capability,” said Bell.

The 2004 Jeep® Grand Cherokee’s fresh look starts with a new front fascia, new grille and new fog lamp appearance for all models, which debuted at the beginning of 2003.
For 2004, Jeep Grand Cherokee gives customers even more options than before by expanding to five models: Laredo, the new Special and Freedom Editions, Limited and Overland.
The new Special Edition model has the monochromatic exterior design cues of the Limited model. Four-wheel drive Special Edition models also include fog lamps, Quadra Trac II® transfer case, AM/FM/Cassette/10-disc CD with Infinity® speakers and a Special Edition badge.
New for 2004, Grand Cherokee is offered with a new factory-installed Navigation Radio for the first time.
This new system combines a 4.9-inch full-color display, AM/FM Stereo, CD Player and navigation system that uses DVD technology all in one unit.
The 4.7-liter PowerTech™ V-8 High Output engine is rated at 265 horsepower (198 kW) at 5100 rpm, and 330 lb.-ft. (448 N•m) of torque at 3600 rpm. The High Output 4.7-liter engine is standard on the Overland model and available on the Limited.
The 4.7-liter PowerTech V-8 and the High Output 4.7-liter engines are mated to the 5-45RFE five-speed automatic transmission, which provides a second overdrive gear for increased highway fuel efficiency and quieter engine operation at highway speeds.
The powerful 4.7-liter PowerTech V-8 engine produces 235 horsepower (175 kW) at 4800 rpm and 295 lb.-ft. (400 N•m) of torque at 3200 rpm. The standard 4.7-liter engine is available on Laredo and Limited models, while the 4.0-liter PowerTech I-6 engine is standard. The 4.0-liter I-6 is rated at 195 horsepower (145 kW) at 4600 rpm and 230 lb.-ft. (312 N•m) of torque at 3000 rpm.
Jeep Grand Cherokee models are available in both two- and four-wheel drive. Four-wheel drive Laredo models feature the Select-Trac® full-time transfer case with low range.
Available for 2004 on the Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo is the Quadra Trac I transfer case, which is a derivative of the award-winning Quadra-Trac II transfer case. The Quadra-Trac I single-speed transfer case offers simplicity and convenience for those customers who do not tow heavy loads. There is no need to shift levers; Quadra Trac I will respond automatically when there is a loss of traction.
The Quadra-Trac II on-dem and transfer case with low range is standard on the Special Edition and Limited models and optional on Laredo. The Quadra-Drive system, which combines the Quadra-Trac II transfer case with Vari-Lok® axles, is able to send nearly 100 percent of the developed engine torque to just one wheel for outstanding capability both on- and off-road. Quadra-Drive® is optional on Limited and standard on Overland.
The Quadra-Trac II transfer case incorporates a progressive, speed-sensing torque transfer coupling. Vari-Lok axles use a progressive, hydro-mechanical speed-sensing torque transfer coupling in both front and rear differentials. Combine them both for an unbeatable Quadra-Drive system.
Jeep Grand Cherokee is manufactured at DaimlerChrysler’s Jefferson North Assembly Plant in Detroit.

09/10/03: What's New for 2004 - Dodge Dakota
The 2004 Dodge Dakota adds a new 210 horsepower V-6 to round out the most powerful engine lineup in the compact pickup segment.
The 2004 Dodge Dakota offers best-in-class power, payload and towing capability and provides seating for six, making it the most versatile and powerful compact pickup available.
Larger than the compact pickup competition, Dodge Dakota delivers bold Dodge styling and full-size capability. Yet Dodge Dakota is easier to maneuver and drive than full-size pickups. Featuring four real doors, the Dodge Dakota Quad Cab™ model adds to a wide range of model choices.
For 2004, Dodge Dakota offers style with a “Stampede” package on Regular Cab and Club Cab® Sport models. The Stampede model features unique monochromatic custom front and rear body-color fascia moldings, ground-effect bodyside moldings, 16 x 8-inch aluminum wheels, wheel flares and rear stabilizer bar.
The 2004 Dodge Dakota features standard cast-aluminum 16 x 7-inch wheels, standard four-wheel disc brakes on Quad Cab and four-wheel drive models, and the five-speed 5-45RFE electronically controlled transmission on the Magnum 4.7-liter engine.
Like its big brother, the Dodge Ram, Dakota Quad Cab offers four full-size doors, but in a compact pickup. For 2004, bucket seats are standard on Quad Cab.
Dakota Quad Cab’s interior is the largest among four-door compact pickups, with the most front and rear shoulder and hip room as well. While designed to seat up to three rear passengers comfortably, convenient 60/40 split rear seats can fold up together to accommodate large objects, or individually to accommodate a combination of people and cargo.
Rear doors open a full 90 degrees, and have windows that lower all the way down, making the rear area comfortable for passengers on long rides, while also providing the capability to carry large packages.
Dakota’s five-foot, three-inch bed is the largest among four-door compact pickups and can handle up to 1800 lbs. of payload. The Dodge Dakota Quad Cab can tow up to 6100 lbs., making it one of the Best pickups in the segment.
Two additional models -- Regular Cab and Club Cab -- are the largest of their kind in the compact class, adding to Dakota’s versatility quotient. Both boast the roomiest and most comfortable front seating areas in the class. In fact, the Dakota Club Cab is the only Club Cab model in the compact segment to offer a full-size, forward-facing rear bench seat.
The value- priced Dakota SXT model continues to offer a unique look and standard features that are uncommon at its price. With its deep gray bumpers, upper and lower fascia, body-color fender flares and sporty 16-inch aluminum wheels, Dakota SXT makes a bold styling statement. And with standard air conditioning and bucket seats, it’s as much fun to drive as it is to look at.
Since the first Dodge Dakota rolled off the assembly line in 1986, it’s been the segment leader in power and capability. Now with a new 210-horsepower (157 kW) 3.7-liter Magnum® V-6, Dakota offers the most powerful engine lineup in the segment and delivers the best towing and hauling numbers in the class.
Dakota offers powerful Magnum engines designed to meet the varying needs of the compact pickup buyer. The 230-horsepower (172 kW), 295 lb.-ft. torque (400 N•m) 4.7-liter Magnum V-8 engine is easily the most powerful in its class, rivaling the performance capability of some full-size pickups.
The Dodge Dakota R/T model is discontinued for 2004. The 5.9-liter Magnum V-8 is also discontinued.
Dodge Dakota’s powerful engines support the segment’s best truck for towing and hauling. Dakota’s 6600-lb. maximum towing capacity and 2190-lb. maximum payload capability far exceed its compact competitors.
Dodge Dakota is available in both two- and four-wheel drive models and features rack and pinion steering. Standard brakes are a front-disc, rear-drum configuration. An anti-lock braking system is standard in the rear, with four-wheel ABS available as an option.
Molten Red is new to Dakota’s color palette for the 2004 model year.
All Dodge Dakota models are built at DaimlerChrysler’s “Dodge City” Warren Truck Assembly Plant in Warren, Michigan.

09/07/03: What's New for 2004 - Dodge Ram Trucks
2004 DODGE RAM 1500
For 2004, the Dodge Ram 1500 adds big HEMI® power with the 5.7-liter HEMI Magnum engine, making the Ram 1500 lineup the most powerful mass production light-duty pickup on the market.
Introduced as a late 2003 model year addition, the 5.7-liter HEMI Magnum engine powered the Dodge Ram 1500 to the winner’s circle, taking home Sport Truck Magazine’s 2003 “Truck of the Year” Award. The HEMI also was named a Ward’s “Ten Best Engine.”
The 2004 Dodge Laramie package adds a new, all-chrome grille surround and chrome billet grille center to the boldest grille in town. Chrome bodyside moldings and a revised interior, with silver trim adorning the door panels and the instrument panel bezels, further distinguish the Laramie from the SLT. The Laramie edition also features a unique and more distinctive leather seat design, with higher contrast color seat inserts.
Also for 2004, UConnect™ hands-free cellular with Bluetooth™ technology and a new integrated radio/navigation system will be available in the fall of 2003.
The 5.7-liter HEMI Magnum engine increases the Ram 1500’s Gross Combined Weight Rating (GCWR) by 500 lbs. to 14,000 lbs., versus the 5.9-liter Magnum-equipped Ram 1500. The Gross Trailer Weight Rating (GTWR) increases by 550 lbs. to 9200 lbs. Fuel efficiency is also improved by 10 percent over the 5.9-liter, while the new HEMI Magnum engine is approximately 60 lbs. lighter in weight.
The Ram 1500 is also available with the 235-horsepower (175 kW ) 4.7-liter Magnum V-8 engine. With 295 lb.-ft. (400 N•m) of torque, the 4.7-liter provides smooth and responsive performance and is mated to the 5-45RFE automatic transmission.
The 3.7-liter Magnum V-6 engine is standard on two-wheel drive Dodge Ram 1500 Regular Cab and two-wheel drive Quad Cabs with the standard bed configuration. While smaller in displacement than its predecessor, the 215-horsepower (160 kW) 3.7-liter V-6 provides 35 more horsepower and about one mile per gallon better fuel efficiency than its V-6 predecessor.
Both Dodge Ram Quad Cab and Regular Cab have innovative designs that take comfort and convenience to a new level in the full-size pickup segment. Both feature larger-than-the-competition interiors and offer excellent head, shoulder, leg and hip room.
The Dodge Ram Quad Cab models boast four standard doors and 60/40 folding rear seats that ensure both passengers and gear fit in the back at the same time. By allowing the seats to fold up, tools and other items can be securely locked away on a job site.
The Dodge Ram Regular Cab offers just as much flexibility, with the largest cab in the segment, since it was increased by more than three inches during its redesign for 2002.
For 2004, Dodge Ram gains more versatility with a new full-time four-wheel drive system and electric shift transfer case. The full-time system delivers 48 percent of the torque to the front wheels and 52 percent to the rear wheels under normal driving conditions. The system includes a locking transfer case that features four-wheel drive “high” and “low” modes.
The 2004 Dodge Ram 1500 also has a new “Tow/Haul” feature that provides crisper shifts and reduces gear searching when towing. The system will also select a lower gear in downhill conditions to utilize the engine’s braking capability.
A new 34-gallon gas tank is now optional on Ram Quad Cab standard bed trucks.
The Dodge Ram “Off-Road” package adds unique 17-inch aluminum wheels and unique LT275/70R17 off-road tires, the 3.92 rear axle, a limited-slip differential, transfer case skid plates, skid plates for the front axles and unique shocks to an already class-leading off-roader. The package also includes tow hooks, fog lamps, a heavy-duty cooling system and “Off-Road” badging.
Combining all of the virtues and durability of the standard Dodge Ram 1500, the “Work Special” package provides an affordable work truck for those who value the capability of Ram 1500 yet need even more gritty functionality. Ready for the dirt, “Work Special” consists of a unique steel rear bumper, dark gray, color-coded front fascia, gray grille surround and bars and steel wheels.
The first full-size pickup to offer side air-curtains, the Dodge Ram was awarded the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety’s (IIHS) highest crash test rating in the Institute’s offset frontal crash-test.
For 2004, Dodge has added adjustable rear seat head restraints to all Quad Cab models.
The 2004 Dodge Ram also includes a standard LATCH (Lower Anchors and Tethers for CHildren) child seat anchorage system. The LATCH system works in conjunction with the standard child seat tether anchors to create safer child seat attachments.
Dodge Ram’s braking system f eatures the largest four-wheel disc brakes in the segment. The new system improves stopping ability and reacts to driver input quicker and more precisely. Rear-wheel anti-lock brakes remain standard on all models, while four-wheel ABS is an option.
The standard P245/70R17 tires with 17-inch steel wheels are the largest standard tire and wheel combination in the segment. In addition to the numerous wheel and tire options are massive P275/55R20 tires with 20-inch polished cast-aluminum wheels.
Ram also offers optional power-adjustable brake and accelerator pedals to help shorter drivers feel more comfortable. Adjustable pedals are also available on Dodge Rams equipped with manual transmissions, a segment first.
The 2004 Ram 1500 is available in two cab choices, Regular Cab and Quad Cab and both 2WD and 4WD. The base model is the ST, with “Work Special,” Sport, SLT and Laramie packages available.
Deep Molten Red is added as a new exterior color for 2004.
Dodge Ram 1500s are built at the Warren Truck Assembly Plant in Warren, Michigan, and at the St. Louis (Mo.) North Assembly Plant. The 5.7-liter HEMI Magnum is built in Saltillo, Mexico.
DODGE RAM 2500/3500
For 2004, Dodge Ram Heavy Duty features a new automatic transmission for the High Output Cummins Turbo Diesel, a new “Off-Road” package and a factory-built “box off” option for the commercial market.
The 2004 Dodge Ram Heavy Duty now offers a new 48RE automatic transmission, expanding the capability of the Cummins High Output Turbo Diesel. Built to a durability test aimed directly at commercial customer use, the Ram Heavy Duty is tested in conditions ranging from +40°F to +130°F and running the equivalent of 150,000 miles at 95 percent of their on-the-job abuse level.
Brash, tough and delivering best-in-class power and capability, the Dodge Ram Heavy Duty took Motor Trend Truck of the Year honors with ease. Added to the proven Cummins diesel engine lineup and the most powerful standard gas V-8 available, the award-winning 5.7-liter HEMI® Magnum V-8, these enhancements solidify the Ram Heavy Duty’s status as Truck of the Year.
For 2004, the Dodge Laramie package adds a new, all-chrome grille surround and chrome billet grille center to the boldest grille in town. Chrome bodyside moldings and an updated interior, with silver trim adorning the door panels and the instrument panel bezels, further distinguish the Laramie from the SLT. The Laramie edition also features a unique and more distinctive leather seat package, with higher contrast color seat inserts.
Also for 2004, UConnect™ hands-free cellular phone system with Bluetooth™ technology and a new integrated radio/navigation system are available. Sport models receive body color side moldings and Ram adds Deep Molten Red as a new exterior color for 2004 models.
The Dodge Ram Heavy Duty successfully blends the needs of the heavy-duty market, offering superior capability and strength with handling, safety and power previously unknown in this segment.
The Dodge Ram Heavy Duty delivers one of the most potent powertrain combinations in the heavy-duty segment.
For 2004, the high-pressure common-rail injection High Output Cummins Turbo Diesel engine becomes mor e user friendly, adding the optional 48RE automatic transmission. Producing 305 horsepower (227 kW) at 2900 rpm and 555 lb.-ft. of torque (753 N•m) at 1400 rpm, the Cummins Turbo Diesel provides prodigious torque and a class-leading Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) of 23,000 lbs. A Standard Output Cummins Turbo Diesel is also available, delivering 250 horsepower (186 kW) at 2900 rpm and 460 lb.-ft. of torque (624 N•m) at 1400 rpm.
As durable as it is powerful, the Cummins Turbo Diesel has life-to-major overhaul intervals of 350,000 miles, providing more than a 100,000-mile advantage over the competition. An inline six, the new 5.9-liter Cummins has 40 percent fewer parts than typical V-8 diesels, adding durability, simplified assembly, better reliability and lower repair costs to its repertoire.
For 2004, the Magnum V-10 is dropped from the Ram lineup.
Voted one of Ward’s “Ten Best Engines” and standard on the Dodge Ram 2500 and 3500, the 5.7-liter HEMI Magnum produces 345 horsepower (257 kW) at 5600 rpm and 375 lb.-ft. of torque (509 N•m) at 4400 rpm, providing more power than competitive standard V-8 engines. In fact, versus competitive vehicles with similar size gasoline engines, it provides best-in-class acceleration and towing capability, as well as significantly improved fuel efficiency over the engine it replaces.
Featuring a hydroformed frame -- one of the stiffest ever on a pickup truck -- and rack and pinion steering system on two-wheel drive Dodge Ram Heavy Duty pickup trucks, Ram Heavy Duty delivers precise feel and response tuned to give the driver control and positive feedback under any conditions.
On four-wheel drive Dodge Ram Heavy Duty models, a recirculating ball system improves on-center steering feel through lower internal friction, and responds more precisely.
Four-wheel drive models feature solid beam front and rear axles that contribute to a best-in-class Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) of up to 12,000 lbs. The refined four-wheel drive system on the 2500/3500 Dodge Ram pickup provides an outstanding combination of ride, handling and off-road operating characteristics.
Front suspension on four-wheel-drive 2500 and 3500 Dodge Ram Pickups is a five-link, coil-spring suspension with beam axle. A link-type sway bar and heavy-duty tubular shock absorbers are standard.
The rear suspension, common to both two-wheel and four-wheel drive models, is equipped with leaf springs.
The 2004 Dodge Ram Heavy Duty offers a class-exclusive side curtain air bag system and power adjustable pedals (on both automatic and manual transmission-equipped trucks). Ram also provides standard ABS brakes, pre-tensioning and the first constant force seat belt retractors in a heavy-duty pickup truck. For 2004, Ram Heavy Duty adds standard rear-seat head restraints on Quad Cab models.
The Dodge Ram Heavy Duty has standard ABS, the largest brakes in its class and 17-inch wheels and tires -- the largest standard wheels and tires on a heavy-duty pickup -- all contributing to Dodge Ram’s excellent safety capability.
The Dodge Ram Heavy Duty is built at DaimlerChrysler’s Saltillo, Mexico, and St. Louis (Mo.) North Assembly Plants.
DODGE RAM SRT-10
Dodge unleashes the boldest, baddest and fastest full-size pickup ever, the Viper-powered 2004 Dodge Ram SRT-10.
As the Viper of trucks, the 2004 Dodge Ram SRT-10 is a low-volume, over-the-top collectible that remakes the entire segment.
With 500 horsepower (372 kW), 525 lb.-ft. of torque (712 N•m), 505 cu. in. and a 500-watt ear-melting sound system, Dodge dominates in every category. The 2004 Dodge Ram SRT-10 is the new performance truck icon.
Topping 150 mph in maximum speed and reaching 60 mph in just over five seconds, Dodge has recalibrated expectations for truck performance.
The Ram SRT-10’s mayhem-making ability is delivered courtesy of the highest displacement engine in a factory pickup truck -- the same 8.3-liter V-10 that powers America’s ultimate sports car, the all-new 2003 Dodge Viper SRT-10. The V-10’s horsepower rating easily surpasses all other pickups -- not to mention virtually every production sports car in the world.
The Dodge Ram SRT-10 features a Performance Vehicle Operations (PVO) modified suspension. Working with the fully hydroformed Dodge Ram frame, one of the stiffest in the industry, PVO added a custom-tuned suspension, dropping the Ram SRT-10 one inch in the front and 2.5 inches in the rear. New front and rear strut assemblies and a rear sway bar were added to handle the increased cornering loads.
Standard Ram shock absorbers are replaced by Bilstein mono-tube shocks. Also new are performance-tuned springs, unique aerodynamic aids to keep the Ram SRT-10 planted at high speeds and 22-inch custom “Viper-style” wheels fitted with 305/40R22 Pirelli Scorpion tires for extra adhesion. The wheels are the largest available from the factory on any production pickup.
The Dodge Ram SRT-10 features standard ABS-equipped brakes fitted with new 15-inch rotors on the front brakes. Rear brakes are modified Ram Heavy Duty brakes with 14-inch rotors. Front and rear brakes feature unique red calipers. The new front fascia incorporates brake cooling ducts to provide plenty of cooling for track sessions.
Drawing heavily on the Dodge tradition of producing powerful trucks with a B sense of style, the Ram SRT-10’s chiseled features were sculpted courtesy of the Chrysler Group’s new wind tunnel and with a subtle nod to the Dodge Ram NASCAR truck series entry.
The Dodge Ram SRT-10 features a deep front fascia with a splitter and a subtle rear wing. The lift values for the Ram SRT-10 are similar to those of a sports car, not a truck. The rear wing is not only functional, providing a reduction in lift, but also provides a reduction in drag, rare for a wing.
The most noticeable exterior feature of the new 2004 Dodge Ram SRT-10 is a unique hood that features a wide power bulge and scoop sitting atop the signature cross-hair grille. “Viper Powered” badges on either side of the hood scoop leave no doubt as to what resides underneath.
Keeping things simple, the Dodge Ram SRT-10 is available in black, red or silver.
The 2004 Dodge Ram SRT-10 is built at DaimlerChrysler’s Saltillo, Mexico, Assembly Plant. The 8.3-liter V-10 is built at the Conner Road Assembly Plant in Detroit.

09/05/03: What's New for 2004 - Chrysler Crossfire
Where Route 66 Meets the Autobahn. America’s classic Route 66 and Germany’s legendary Autobahn are two of the most famous roads in the world. This year, drivers will be able to merge onto either in Chrysler’s all-new 2004 Crossfire, a sports coupe that combines stunning American design with proven German engineering.
Crossfire is the brand’s first modern-day sports car. It’s a low-slung, two-seat sports coupe with a sculptured appearance. Under its hood is a 3.2-liter 90-degree V-6, 18-valve SOHC engine available with a six-speed manual or five-speed automatic transmission with Autostick®.
Approximately 39 percent of Chrysler Crossfire features adapted components from within DaimlerChrysler, mostly powertrain and axles.
Measured dynamically, Chrysler Crossfire has a body structure that is twice as stiff as a Porsche Boxster and stiffer than a Porsche 911. This technical achievement allows Crossfire to demonstrate sedan-like ride comfort without sacrificing the handling characteristics that true sports cars require.
In skid pad tests, the Chrysler Crossfire has demonstrated its dry handling performance with an impressive 1.1 Gs (with ESP turned off).
In early 2003, Chrysler began building the Crossfire in Germany, in conjunction with Karmann, a long-time DaimlerChrysler partner with more than 100 years of manufacturing experience.
Chrysler has capacity for building 20,000 units per year. Approximately 15 percent of all units built will be sold in international markets.
Chrysler Crossfire was developed in just 24 months after a concept version of the car was revealed at the 2001 North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) in Detroit.
Chrysler Crossfire is built in Osnabrück, Germany, in conjunction with Karmann, a long-time DaimlerChrysler partner with more than 100 years of manufacturing experience.

As one of America’s best-known and longest-running automotive brands, Dodge is in the business of creating exceptional driving experiences through vehicles such as the Dodge Viper SRT-10, Ram and Caravan.
From its line of performance cars to its commercial vehicles, all Dodge cars, trucks, SUVs and minivans combine performance, design ingenuity and inventive function.
For example, Dodge SXT models offer an unbeatable combination of great style, must-have features and common-sense value. Dodge Neon, Stratus, Intrepid, Stratus Coupe and Sedan, along with Caravan, Dakota and Ram are all available with popular extras at compelling SXT sticker values.
Dodge Caravan, and the longer-wheelbase Dodge Grand Caravan continue to set the industry standard for minivans. After 20 successful years and the most minivan innovations in the industry, Grand Caravan offers a power rear hatch, best-in-class power sliding side doors with Obstacle Detection System and manual override plus an available DVD player. Grand Caravan all-wheel drive is the most powerful AWD minivan on the road. Caravan fits nearly any kind of active life, with its quiet, carlike driving feel and endless passenger seating and cargo configurations.
With all the focus on performance, it’s only natural that Dodge offers the most powerful line of trucks. Dodge Ram Heavy Duty pickups have the biggest brakes and wheels in their class, while all Rams — 1500, 2500 and 3500 — are offered with the 5.7-liter HEMI Magnum V-8 engine as standard equipment or an available option. When maximum thrust is called for, the Ram Heavy Duty can be equipped with the Cummins High Output Turbo Diesel.
Dodge Dakota offers best-in-class torque and towing capacity in a compact pickup. Available as a Regular Cab, Club Cab and Quad Cab, Dakota is designed with versatility in mind. Year after year, Dakota offers outstanding durability, style and performance and many of the qualities of a full-size pickup in a mid-size package.
The all-new Dodge Durango takes SUV performance to the next level with best-in-class ride, handling and acceleration. Additional details will be released late in 2003.
Dodge Sprinter is offered in passenger and cargo van models with full-height rear doors that open wide. Inside, space, payload capacity and an available high roof set it apart. Independent front suspension, five-cylinder Mercedes-Benz CDI Turbo Diesel engine, five-speed automatic transmission and four-wheel ABS make Sprinter the most versatile new commercial van on the road. Add in high fuel efficiency and it’s easy to see what Sprinter will lead its segment in cost of operation.
Dodge Neon is a class standout with great handling and more standard power than most competitive compact sedans. Best-in-class wheelbase and a roomy interior make it a pleasure to drive without sacrificing superb functionality.
Dodge Stratus Coupe wraps a dramatically styled body around an available 200 horsepower (149 kW), 2.7 liter V-6 engine for a fun-to-drive package that turns heads wherever it goes. It’s one of the few sport coupes to offer a V-6 and five-speed manual transaxle. The 2004 Dodge Stratus Sedan offers a list of available features including auto-dimming rearview mirror, steering wheel radio controls and traction control with ABS Plus. Bold new front-end styling, four distinct models and differently tuned suspensions provide a range of value and performance to meet every buyer’s need.
Dodge Intrepid takes its performance cues from Dodge’s NASCAR Winston Cup race car. Standard independent touring suspension, a wide stance and a long wheelbase help deliver Intrepid’s superior driving capabilities. A powerful 3.5-liter High Output V-6 engine, spoiler, and 16-inch chrome wheels make the Intrepid SXT an unexpected sticker value.
Like all Chrysler Group vehicles, Dodge backs its cars, trucks, minivans and SUVs with the industry’s best warranty. Dodge’s seven-year, 70,000-mile powertrain warranty covers the hardest working parts of the vehicle.
