The vehicle that marked the return of the great American car in 2004 now has the distinguished title of the most-awarded new car in automotive history.* Consumers have embraced the Chrysler 300’s striking proportions, classic American design and advanced technologies, helping spur the Chrysler brand to record-breaking sales numbers for 2004.“The beautiful styling and incredible performance of the Chrysler 300 created a package unlike any other in the marketplace,” said Jeff Bell, Vice President—Chrysler. “We are honored and proud of the recognition we have received for the Chrysler 300 and we plan to continue to delight our customers for the 2006 model year.”
With Chrysler brand’s long-standing tradition of innovative design, the modern elegance of the 2006 Chrysler 300 continues to make everything else on the road seem ordinary. The dramatic exterior design direction of the Chrysler 300 along with sophisticated interior amenities and command-of-the-road technologies, establish a new large-car formula that includes style and performance not likely to be copied.
WHAT’S NEW FOR 2006?
The award-winning Chrysler 300 returns for 2006 with the same elements of its successful 2005 formula--strikingly beautiful styling, incredible performance, dynamic and controlled handling and unsurpassed comfort and spaciousness all at a stunningly affordable price.
The 2006 Chrysler 300 lineup includes the rear-wheel-drive (RWD) Chrysler 300, Chrysler 300 Touring and the HEMI®-powered Chrysler 300C. The 2006 Chrysler 300 Touring and 300C also are available with all-wheel drive (AWD). A Limited package also is available on both the rear-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive configurations of the 300 Touring model.
ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION OPTIONS
The 2006 Chrysler 300 features a 2.7-liter V-6 engine mated to a four-speed automatic transmission. The transmission features Variable Line Pressure (VLP), which accurately estimates the pressure necessary for maximum operating efficiency (late availability). This precise control of pressure reduces parasitic losses from the pump and hydraulic system, which provides enhanced fuel economy.
The 2006 Chrysler 300 Touring and Chrysler 300 with the Limited package vehicles are equipped with a 3.5-liter High Output V-6 engine mated to Chrysler Group’s five-speed automatic transmission with AutoStick® (late availability). AutoStick features driver-selectable range control, offering a fully automatic or manual shift selection. Previously, the 3.5-liter V-6 engine was mated to a four-speed transmission on Chrysler 300 models.
The 2006 Chrysler 300C continues to feature the 5.7-liter HEMI V-8 engine, with cylinder deactivation, mated to the five-speed transmission.
DVD ENTERTAINMENT SYSTEM
An optional rear-seat DVD entertainment system conveniently integrated into the center console is available on the 2006 Chrysler 300 Touring, Chrysler 300 with the Limited package and 300C. The Video Entertainment System (VES™) consists of a center console cover-mounted DVD player and 7-inch liquid crystal display (LCD) screen, a remote control and two wireless headsets. The hinged LCD screen can be fully stored into the armrest or flipped up for viewing. This location provides rear seat passengers with easy access to the unit.
In addition to video DVDs, the system can play audio DVDs, Windows Media Audio (WMA), audio CDs, MP3 audio discs and video CDs. Auxiliary plug-in jacks are included on the faceplate so that rear-seat passengers can view video directly from a video camera, play games from a video game console or play music directly from a portable MP3 player.
Another unique feature of the entertainment system is that the vehicle speakers can play audio from a disc in the DVD player while rear-seat passengers can listen to audio from the SIRIUS Satellite Radio, AM or FM radio, or a disc in the radio CD player on the headphones.
ADDITIONAL SAFETY FEATURES
A Tire Pressure Monitoring (TPM) system, which monitors the pressure inside each tire and alerts the driver to improper tire pressure conditions, is standard on the 2006 Chrysler 300 Touring model and on Chrysler 300s with the Limited package. The basic system uses an amber ISO symbol, which indicate when one or more tires are underinflated. A premium TPM system is available on the Chrysler 300C, which displays all four tire pressures and warnings in the Electronic Vehicle Information Center display in the instrument panel.
A front-seat seat belt alert, which chimes to remind occupants to buckle up, and a speed control instrument panel indicator light also are featured on all 2006 Chrysler 300 vehicles.
REAR-WHEEL-DRIVE TECHNOLOGY
Chrysler 300 customers embraced the return to rear-wheel drive in 2005. Technologies such as Electronic Stability Program (ESP), All-speed Traction Control System (TCS) and Anti-lock Brake System (ABS) helped control Chrysler 300 cars in ways that were transparent to the driver, yet provided exceptional ride and handling characteristics. The 2006 Chrysler 300 Touring, the Chrylser 300 with the Limited package and the Chrysler 300C continue to feature these technologies.
“Chrysler’s rear-wheel-drive architecture transfers HEMI power to the pavement, while the ESP, traction control and ABS offer safe control of the vehicle,” said Craig Love, Vice-President—Rear-wheel-drive Platform Team, Chrysler Group. “The five-link independent suspension delivers excellent handling and responsiveness to provide an incredible smooth ride.”
• ESP enhances driver control and helps maintain directional stability, including uneven surface conditions and patchy snow, ice or gravel. If there’s a discernible difference between what the driver indicates through the steering and the vehicle’s path, ESP applies selective braking and throttle control to put the car back onto the driver’s intended path. The system is calibrated for improved control of the vehicle under a variety of conditions and operates in a manner that is not intrusive under normal driving
• ESP also offers Brake Assist, which detects when maximum braking is required by sensing the rate of brake application. By applying full brake pressure to all four brakes, this system improves stopping distance
• All-speed TCS enhances mobility and prevents wheel slip when accelerating on slippery surfaces. It also provides a measure of directional stability control—an advancement beyond prior traction control systems
• ABS keeps the vehicle straight, while retaining steering capability when braking on slippery surfaces by preventing wheel lock-up
ALL-WHEEL-DRIVE SYSTEM PROVIDES BEST IN PASSENGER CAR FOUR-SEASON TRACTION
The 2006 Chrysler 300 Touring and 300C also are available as all-wheel-drive models to provide excellent cornering balance under all driving conditions and improved traction in snow and wet-weather conditions. By driving continuously through all four wheels, the all-wheel-drive system, combined with standard ESP, All-speed TCS and ABS, adds outstanding performance and stability under all traction conditions. A Limited package also is available on the 300 Touring AWD model.
“While chassis electronics and advanced tire technology help control the 2006 Chrysler 300 rear-wheel-drive models, some customers may opt for the all-wheel-drive choice,” said Love. “We are able to offer what the customer wants in each case.”

More power and a new interior and exterior design upgrades take the already "too cool to categorize" Chrysler PT Cruiser Convertible to new heights in 2006.
"The 2006 Chrysler PT Cruiser Convertible maintains its one-of-a-kind styling and flexibility," said Jeff Bell, Vice President – Chrysler. "For 2006, we've increased the horsepower, refined the exterior and updated the interior to ensure that the Chrysler PT Convertible continues to grow in the hot small specialty car segment."
New for 2006, the Chrysler PT Cruiser Convertible gets updated front and rear fascias, including a new front grille with the Chrysler winged badge and chrome accents, new headlamps and fog lamps. The available high-output turbo engine gets a power boost, with 230 horsepower and 245 lb.-ft. of torque, compared with the previous 220 horsepower.
The 2006 Chrysler PT Cruiser Convertible also gets an all-new interior, including new seat trim and fabrics. A new instrument panel has a Satin Silver finish and features larger, more visible graphics, new flush shutoff air vents and a Chrysler Signature analog clock. Also new for 2006, the radio is mounted higher in the center stack, and a passenger grab handle has been added to the right side of the instrument panel to make it easier for passengers to get in and out of the vehicle. A new dampened door opening provides increased capacity in the glove box. Front cup holders on the GT model get bright accents.
A new center console with a sliding armrest and covered storage space replaces the previous seat-mounted armrests and front passenger seat storage bin for the 2006 model year. This console includes a battery-fed power outlet for cell-phone charging and two fold-out cup holders for passengers in the back seat. New radio options include a Boston Acoustics® premium sound system that features six premium speakers and a 368-watt amplifier. All Chrysler PT Cruiser Convertible models also get MP3 play capability in the 2006 model year.
New convenience features for the Chrysler PT Cruiser Convertible for 2006 include an available six-way power adjustable driver seat with manual lumbar adjuster and an Electronic Vehicle Information Center (EVIC), which is more refined and allows owners to customize and easily adjust their personal settings. This new EVIC includes compass and temperature display, audio information, fuel economy, distance to empty and elapsed time.
Several updates to the 2006 Chrysler PT Cruiser Convertible also make this already quiet convertible even quieter.
"We've made many reductions in road and powertrain noise, which combine to create an overall quieter driving experience," said Larry Lyons, Vice President – Front-Wheel-Drive Product Team.
New improvements to the sealing around the heating, ventilation and air-conditioning (HVAC) system, as well as added insulation in the dashboard, reduce powertrain noise.
With 84.3 cu. ft. of space and 13.3 cu. ft. of pass-through luggage volume, the Chrysler PT Cruiser Convertible maintains its leadership in the segment, offering more interior cargo volume than its competitors. Seats may be configured in nine different ways, including a position that creates a pass-through trunk opening.
In addition to its one-of-a-kind heritage PT Cruiser styling, the 2006 Chrysler PT Cruiser Convertible boasts a power convertible soft top, 10 inches more rear legroom than its competitors, storage space large enough to fit at least two golf bags or similar lifestyle equipment, two available turbo engine options and an exceptionally quiet ride.
The Chrysler PT Cruiser Convertible is available in two models for 2006: Chrysler PT Cruiser Convertible Touring and Chrysler PT Cruiser Convertible GT.

The cool quotient flows from the outside in, as the Chrysler PT Cruiser gets the face of Chrysler, an all-new interior, improved performance and a boost of power for the 2006 model year.
"We completely upgraded the Chrysler PT Cruiser for 2006," said Jeff Bell, Vice President – Chrysler. "We increased the horsepower, refined the exterior and updated every interior detail to ensure that the new 2006 Chrysler PT Cruiser continues to lead the segment in style, versatility, quality and performance."
New for 2006, the Chrysler PT Cruiser gets updated front and rear fascias, including a new front grille with the Chrysler winged badge and chrome accents, new headlamps that feature a scallop along the bottom edge and new round fog lamps. A new body-color spoiler on the liftgate provides improved aerodynamics.
Chrysler also pumps up the power on the PT Cruiser, giving the available High-Output Turbo engine a power boost for 2006, now rated at 230 horsepower (171.5 kW) and 245 lb.-ft. (332 N•m) of torque, up from the previous 220 horsepower.
In addition to the exterior updates and more power, the 2006 Chrysler PT Cruiser gets an all-new interior. Included are new seat trims and fabric choices. A new instrument panel features larger gauges, new flush shutoff, rotating air vents and a Chrysler signature analog clock. Also new for 2006, the radio is mounted higher in the center stack, and a passenger grab handle has been added to the right side of the instrument panel to make it easier for passengers to get in and out of the vehicle. The glove box capacity is increased, and the door has a dampened movement.
A new center console with a sliding armrest and covered storage space replaces the previous seat-mounted armrests and front passenger seat storage bin for the 2006 model year. This console includes a covered tray for concealing small items, a deep storage bin that holds six CDs, an available battery-fed power outlet for cell-phone charging, a new coin holder and two fold-out cup holders for rear-seat occupants. Front cup holders on the Limited and GT models get bright accents.
New radio options for 2006 include a Boston Acoustics® premium sound system that features six speakers and a subwoofer, as well as a 368-watt amplifier. Rear door speakers improve bass response. Also new for the 2006 model year, all Chrysler PT Cruiser models get MP3 play capability.
New convenience features for the Chrysler PT Cruiser in the 2006 model year include standard power locks on all models, courtesy map lamps, and an available six-way power adjustable driver seat with manual lumbar adjuster. Rear window switches are higher on the back of the center console for easier access. Also available on the 2006 PT Cruiser is a new Electronic Vehicle Information Center (EVIC), which adds functionality by allowing owners to customize and easily adjust their personal settings. Settings on the new EVIC include compass and temperature display, audio information, fuel economy, distance to empty and elapsed time.
Not all of the changes to the 2006 Chrysler PT Cruiser can be seen.
"In addition to the exterior and interior changes and the boost of power, the 2006 Chrysler PT Cruiser offers an overall quieter driving experience because of the many reductions we've made in road, wind and powertrain noise," said Larry Lyons, Vice President – Front-Wheel-Drive Product Team. "Customers won't necessarily see these improvements listed in a dealer brochure, but they will hear the difference when they get behind the wheel."
To reduce road noise, the 2006 Chrysler PT Cruiser has an all-new acoustic package, which includes improved sealing around the doors, windows, rear floor pan and reverberant cavity area, as well as increased sound absorption in the trim panels.
New improvements to the sealing around the heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) system, as well as added insulation in the dashboard, reduce powertrain noise.
Wind noise has also been reduced by the use of redesigned inner belt seals in the door and added foam in the A-pillar.
"The interior of the 2006 Chrysler PT Cruiser is up to five decibels quieter, depending on driving conditions," Lyons added.
The Chrysler PT Cruiser will be available in four models for the 2006 model year: Chrysler PT Cruiser, Chrysler PT Cruiser Touring, Chrysler PT Cruiser Limited and Chrysler PT Cruiser GT.

06/02/05: 2005 Convertible Season is Here
To help convertible lovers look as good as their vehicles, Chrysler Group, America’s convertible company, and celebrity hair stylist Ken Pavés officially kick-off the top-down season with the latest style tips for worry-free convertible hairstyles.
“Summer is here and that means white returns to the wardrobe, top-down driving season arrives, social calendars book-up and it's time to look your best,” said Pavés, stylist to the stars. “While anyone will look great behind the wheel of the best selling Sebring Convertible, Chrysler Crossfire Roadster or PT Cruiser Convertible, there are a few tips to help you look fabulous when you arrive after driving with the convertible top down.”
“With Chrysler offering more soft-top options than any other manufacturer,
it is a natural fit for us to join forces with Ken to help convertible drivers
and their passengers match their unique style with that of their vehicles,” said
Jeff Bell, Vice President - Chrysler. “Chrysler is the only brand
of convertibles that provides comfort and convenience, while still offering
the premium amenities convertible shoppers want, and we are the only brand
to offer fun styling tips as well."
Pavés “Tips for Flawless Convertible Hair,” include:
· Create an instant day-to-night celebrity look with a sassy, loose
chignon. Create this great style by working with your natural texture. Pull
your strands into a smooth, low ponytail. Wrap the ends loosely around the
base of the ponytail, securing firmly with bobby pins, letting a few random
pieces cascade from the bun.
·
Be Natural – Rejoice if you are blessed with natural curls or waves,
since natural textures are what hair is all about for 2005, and this look needs
no defense against the wind! Go with your natural flow and let those
ringlets rule.
·
Just Add Wind - Add a definite rock-glam edge to your strands by creating the
definitive wind-in-your-hair style. Start by shaking out your current do. Flip
your head over and spray hairspray liberally through your roots. Flip
your head back over and style with your fingers. Go wild since this sizzling
style is even better after a ride with the top down!
·
Let The Good Times Roll - Big, sexy hair rules in 2005. The bigger and wilder,
the better! Drop the top and don’t look back - but only after you
lock in your gorgeous new style with Pavés Professional Flawless Convertible-Proof
Hairspray.
·
Crank Up The Volume – This applies to more than just the radio in your
convertible. Blow dry your tresses, and while they're slightly warm,
pop in some Velcro rollers. Take a few minutes to apply your make-up
and get dressed. Remove your rollers and shake out your strands for a
lightly tousled look.
