The Chrysler Group is redefining the small-car segment with the 2005 Chrysler PT Cruiser, offering an entry-level model priced at $13,995.

The newly repositioned Chrysler PT Cruiser will be available in four models for 2005: PT Cruiser, PT Cruiser Touring, PT Cruiser Limited and PT Cruiser GT.

Chrysler PT Cruiser owners will be able to choose from three engine options, including two turbos that blow away its compact car competition, a slew of feature choices and an interior that can be configured in more than 30 different ways.

2005 CHRYSLER PT CRUISER
The 2005 Chrysler PT Cruiser is powered by a standard 2.4-liter naturally aspirated engine that produces 150 horsepower (112 kW) and 165 lb.-ft. (220 N•m) of torque with a manual transaxle.

Standard features on the entry-level PT Cruiser include an AM/FM radio with cassette player, a 65/35 folding rear seat, 15-inch wheels and wheel covers.

Optional features include an automatic transmission, air conditioning, a single-disc CD player, side air bags and anti-lock brakes.

Linen Gold is a new exterior color option for 2005, joining Electric Blue, Inferno Red, Midnight Blue, Dark Plum, Bright Silver, Black and Cool Vanilla.

2005 CHRYSLER PT CRUISER TOURING
Standard features on the 2005 Chrysler PT Cruiser Touring include power locks, windows and mirrors, a CD player, air conditioning, a fold-flat passenger seat, multi-position rear-shelf panel and an underseat storage bin.

Several audio options are available on the Chrysler PT Cruiser Touring: AM/FM stereo with CD player and cassette, AM/FM radio with six-disc CD changer and a SIRIUS® satellite radio receiver. Sunscreen glass, a moon roof, light group and speed control, as well as a driver’s seat power height adjuster, are also available.

2005 CHRYSLER PT CRUISER LIMITED
Standard features on the 2005 Chrysler PT Cruiser Limited include sport cloth seats, driver lumbar support, power height adjuster, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, security alarm, speed control, the HomeLink® universal garage door opener, side air bags, touring suspension and AM/FM radio with CD/cassette player. The exterior is complemented by 16-inch painted aluminum wheels, fog lamps, chrome exhaust tip and sunscreen glass.

Optional features include a 2.4-liter turbocharged engine that produces 180 horsepower (134 kW) and 210 lb.-ft. (285 N•m) of torque coupled with an automatic transmission, available four-wheel disc brakes with ABS and traction control, power moon roof with sliding sunshade, UConnect™ hands-free communication system, and a chrome accent group, which includes 16-inch chrome-clad aluminum wheels, chrome grille/fascia accents, chrome bodyside moldings, chrome fuel door, bright pedals, chrome lock knobs, leather-wrapped steering wheel with bright spokes and scuff plates with bright inserts.

An upgraded Limited package is available for 2005, which includes the 180-horsepower turbo engine with automatic transaxle, large chrome exhaust tip, leather-trimmed interior, power moon roof, and many of the chrome accent group elements including 16-inch-chrome-clad aluminum wheels, chrome grille and fascia accents, chrome bodyside moldings, chrome door lock knobs, and scuff plates with bright accents. Additional options include an AM/FM stereo with six-disc CD changer, full-map navigation radio and heated seats.

2005 CHRYSLER PT CRUISER GT
The Chrysler PT Cruiser GT sedan is powered by a turbocharged 2.4-liter high-output engine that produces 220 horsepower (164 kW) and 245 lb.-ft. (332 N•m) of torque. It comes with a standard five-speed Getrag heavy-duty manual transmission and a sport-tuned suspension.

Standard features on the Chrysler PT Cruiser GT include sport leather seats, a spoiler, 17-inch chrome-plated aluminum wheels, four-wheel disc brakes with ABS and traction control, a large chrome exhaust tip, bright pedals, silver steering wheel spokes, AM/FM radio with CD/cassette player, and satin silver shift knob and instrument panel accents.

Optional equipment includes an available automatic transmission with AutoStick®, AM/FM stereo with six-disc CD changer, full-map navigation radio, heated seats, UConnect™ hands-free communication and the chrome accent group.

SAFETY AND SECURITY
The 2005 Chrysler PT Cruiser has a unique transverse beam in the vehicle’s body structure to help protect occupants in the event of a side-impact collision. Front supplemental side seat-mounted air bags are also available. All three backseat positions include lap and shoulder seat belts. The PT Cruiser’s available four-wheel anti-lock disc brakes with low-speed traction control help prevent wheel lockup in hard braking situations.

A rear liftgate release latch, rear door child protection locks and a LATCH (Lower Anchors and Tethers for CHildren) child seat anchorage system are standard equipment on all PT Cruiser models, as are driver and passenger front air bags.

All PT Cruisers come standard with the Sentry Key® vehicle immobilizer system, which prevents the engine from starting if an attempt is made to start the car without a properly programmed key.

All 2005 Chrysler PT Cruisers are built at the Toluca Assembly Plant in Mexico.
